The city of Porto Velho dates from about 100 years ago and, since then, it has not changed much. Its Historic Center keeps the same layout of streets and historic buildings and monuments as always, which can be visited on a walk.

In the center of Porto Velho, there are icons such as the Cajas de Plaza D’Agua, a symbol of the old port and appreciated as one of the best views of the city.

Another important space of great beauty is the Coração de Jesus Metropolitan Cathedral, a historical point for being the main church of the city.

Also worth mentioning are the Casa de la Cultura, with its exhibitions, the Getulio Vargas Palace, the Cultural Market, for its art and music, and the Feitoza Building, one of the oldest structures in the center.

Similarly, Pinheiro Machado Avenue, in the center, is a meeting point for university students and young people who fill their sidewalks and bars during the night.

Scattered around the area are, in the same way, few shopping centers, restaurants, cafes and popular places to taste the most traditional of Puerto Viejo.
