Where to Stay in Lima – A Guide to the Peruvian Capital
Lima is not only the capital of Peru, but it is also known as the gastronomic capital of South America.
Its Old Town (Centro Histórico) is well preserved, with colonial-style palaces, cathedrals, archaeological centers, art galleries, museums, and traditional restaurants.
This South American metropolis is located on the central coast of Peru, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, it is one of the most visited destinations in Latin America.
The climate in Lima is fresh and pleasant, its proximity to the sea makes it humid. It rarely rains in Lima. The best seasons to travel to Lima are summer and spring.
Although there is a metro line, the Peruvian capital lacks good mass transport links between most tourist areas. The districts far from the center are connected by metropolitan public transport (buses) and the historic center can be explored on foot.
Lima’s best hotels are located in the affluent neighborhoods of the city, such as Miraflores, San Isidro, and Barranco. To find where to stay in Lima, you should consider the location, the transportation, and, of course, the safety of each neighborhood.
This is a guide with the best areas to stay in Lima, Peru.
